Back in mid-June we embarked on our first official community fundraiser and set an ambitious goal of $1000 to help end hunger. Nana joined forces with the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Benton House Food Pantry to collect as many dollars from our diners for this meaningful cause. Our committed staff presented the partnership to each and every guests that joined us for a meal. Few were reluctant to give at least one dollar, many gave more, and some were unexpectedly generous.
Volunteers from the Benton House hosted an official launch here at Nana and by the end of our first week, we collected over $250! A month into the fundraiser, our staff collected nearly our goal of $1000. Now at the close of the fundraiser, we've tallied our donations. Nana is happy to announce that we exceed our original goal with $1318 donated to help feed hungry families! With just $5 able to feed 3 families for a week, our $1318 will go a long way.
Thank you to every guest who donated what they could. This is a cause close to Nana's heart and we could not have done this without our loyal and generous guests. And a special thank you to the Benton House for asking us to join in on their cause and for the Greater Chicago Food Depository for hosting our online donation page. The Benton House is a local social service agency here in Bridgeport that promotes the stability, economic vitality, and cultural growth of our community through various adult, youth, and neighborhood enrichment programs including, but not limited to, a community garden and food pantry.
